RD#2 “GT Thunder Memorial Race” Sunday May 3rd at Husted Hills in Amesville, OH
Round# 2 of our Motorcycle, ATV & UTV series will be held @ Husted Hills located in Amesville, OH on Sunday May 3rd 2015. You all will love this track as it has many exciting spectator areas & features including easy smooth flowing trails with some tight technical bike single track, open GP style field sections, a nice faster paced MX track along with the best Enduro-cross section on our circuit!!
We have worked hard at coming up with a new layout and feel for the track for this event and we finalized it with the following track mileages. Peewee’s (Green Arrows) = approx 1 mile, Youth & UTV (Blue Arrows) = approx 3.75 miles, Adults (Red Arrows) = approx 7 miles.
Jay Downhour with JDPMX will be at the track on Saturday afternoon from approx 3pm to 8pm offering suspension service work & setup tuning if anyone is interested having a professional setup done on your race bike.
This is also our 2nd round of UTV racing for the season, which they will be racing right after the adult quads finish up on Sunday. Make sure you all make plans to stick around as I’m sure you will see some great battles as Can-Am UTV racers will be competing for $1000 to win in Can-Am Contingency Bucks! This facility does have easy off the road access with plenty of level parking, if you would like you can bring your campers out on Saturday and spend the weekend with us, as always there is no extra charge for camping.
This event is being held in honor & memory of Laz & Maryann Sommers of GT Thunder. Unfortunately they passed away in an unfortunate airplane accident while heading to the Big Buck GNCC on April 11th 2014. This couple has touched many hearts & souls throughout the racing community with their kind spirits & willingness to help others. With Laz’s amazing skills and his “can do attitude” he had designed and manufactured many aftermarket performance products that have made a huge impact to ATV racing over the years. He has shared his knowledge & helped support many amateur racers as they have progressed to the top ranks in many local & national racing events.
Also to help keep their spirits alive we have ordered more of the GT Thunder Memorial T-shirts which we will be giving away as hole shot awards to every line in every division for this event. Extra shirts will be on sale at the registration trailer for $15 each, all proceeds are put into a fund to keep our $75 amateur overall awards going into the future in memory of Laz’s support to many Amateurs racers during his lifetime.

Gate Fees:
Gates Open Sunday Morning @ 7am
Kids 5 & under are FREE
Ages 6-12 = $10 per person
Ages 13 & up = $15 per person
Racer Registration Fees:
Peewee Bike & Mini Quad Classes = $20.00
Youth Bike & Quad Classes = $25.00
Adult Bike & Quad Amateur Classes = $30.00
Adult Bike & Quad Pro-Am = $40.00
Adult Bike & Quad Pro = $50.00
UTV’s = $50 Team
We do not have any membership fees & we do not require AMA cards.
Riders will be required to have a transponder which is used to record your laps and laps times when you come through the finish area. Our transponders are the stick on type which go on the back side of your helmet. The transponders are a one time cost of $10.00, sorry we cant rent them out per race. It will be a one time purchase and as long as you don’t damage it, lose it or switch helmets. If you already have one of these stick on style transponders from any other race series, you are good to go as long as it passes the reader test at registration. Also there is no such thing as a “annual renewal/programming fee” with us!
