Sam Lamp races a TRX 450R in the 22+ B Class of WEXCR and the Vet B Class in the GNCC. He finished 2nd in his class and 19th overall at WEXCR Round 1, King Knob.

Lamp races for a team called Vigilant Vet Racing (VVR). These team is a group of veterans who race local and national races to raise awareness about PTSD. They have a Facebook page you can find by searching Vigilant Vet Racing – Make sure you visit and like the page to show your support!

“I thought the track at King Knob was really fun,” he said. “It had a little bit of everything that XC riders enjoy. The rain made things tougher on all of us, but it was a great track put together by the WEXCR crew.”

Lamp’s favorite part of the race was seeing the checkered flag. After several DNF’s and a separated shoulder at the Georgia GNCC, he was out of racing for about a month. “Coming back from the injury and finishing the Big Buck GNCC last week and then finishing this race was a big confidence booster for me,” he explained.

The rain made the course a definite challenge for all ATV riders and Lamp agreed that was the toughest part of this race. “Dealing with the rain was the hardest part of this track. I know Tim had to cut some of the track out because of it, and I’m glad he did because it was pretty nasty out there. It made it very slick and difficult to navigate.”

Lamp’s goal this season is to win the 22+ B Class and he would like to place in the Top 10 Overall. “It won’t be an easy task because as I turn 34 in a few weeks, I keep watching these younger guys get faster and faster. I’m really just out here to have a good time.”

Lamp would like to thank his sponsors: VVR, Get It Performance, Pirate MX, 100%, Flexx Bars, Fly Racing, Lonestar, Risk Racing, Alco Cleaners, ITP, Waynesburg Yamaha, Sunstar, Engine Ice, Spider Graphix, Odi and VP Fuel.
