Bike Pro Am 4th Place & 4th Overall, Dacota Abbott is pleased with his finish after suffering from a torn ACL and Meniscus last season at the Powerline Park GNCC. After surgery less than a year ago, he wasn’t allowed to move his leg for a month and wasn’t released to race until after WEXCR’s first round. He came back Round 2, worked hard all year, improved every race and is happy with his finish overall.

“The most rewarding part of my season was definitely getting the Sportsman A and Morning Overall win at the Powerline GNCC this year since that is where I got injured last season,” explained Abbott.

Dirt bikes became a part of Abbott’s life at an early age. He said, “I got my first dirt bike on my 5th birthday and ever since then, my world has revolved around two wheels.” He started racing full-time in 2008 and in 2009, he was the Paul Koontz Open C Champion and the KSR Open C Champion. In 2010, he ran a full year of GNCC and finished 2nd in Open B and he was the KSR Open B Champion. Since then, he has run the locals and the close GNCC races and has improved every year.

Abbott is most definitely racing next season. His goals are to win the WEXCR Pro Am Championship and move up in the overall. “If I can get a good schedule worked out at work, I would also like to try to capture an A Class Championship at the Nationals,” he said.

Throughout the off season, Abbott plans to work hard. “I’ll probably stud a tire and have some fun on the bike in the snow,” he said. He is also excited to snow ski since he was unable to go last year due to his injury.

Abbott enjoys racing WEXCR because of the great people. “It’s a great environment and everyone always has a smile on their faces,” he said. “Tim and everyone else involved put a lot into the race series and it shows the love they have for the sport. I have a lot of good friends that race WEXCR so it’s awesome to go out there and bang bars with them every race. It’s especially fun with my cousin Brady Myers, since we are in the same class.”

Round 2 was Abbott’s favorite track because it had hills, creeks, moto and endurocross. “I’m a rough rider, so the harder the track, the better I’m going to do,” he said.

Abbott would like to thank his family and friends for their support. “I would especially like to thank my Dad and Grandma because without them this year wouldn’t have been possible, especially with my work schedule.” He would also like to thank Hometown Honda and Lemon and Barrett’s Power Sports for helping him with parts.
